Tecumseh Public School
2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Plan
Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.
Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.
The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
Key Priorities and Goals
This year we are focusing on co-regulation and mindfulness.
We are doing this because we observe that students who struggle to calm themselves in distressing situations often behave in unsafe ways.
Key Actions or Strategies
- When students exhibit distress, adults will model and coach calming strategies to support a return to calm.
- Adults will attempt to identify and address root causes of stress at school.
- Small group instruction of pro-social interactions and problem solving will be provided daily in a recess club setting, as a proactive support.
Community and Home Connections
- Ask your child what they know about mindfulness strategies.
- Try mindful breathing or visualization at home with your child. Mindfulness for kids
